CLUB NOTES

The guest speaker at our July meeting was Andrew Pritchard, who gave an informative and interesting talk, accompanied by slides and a video, on endangered orchids, particularly those in the south-western district.

Barbara Garrett reported on the Coastal Planning Report, emphasising that the Rutlege's Cutting area had been omitted, and this is now being looked into.

Eight new plants have been planted and some cleaning-up has been done since our last meeting to open up the path to our memorial stone in Victoria Park .

A letter regarding the Marine Parks was received by Peter Bolte just prior to our last meeting. It requested the support of our club for a submission for reconsideration of the proposed Marine Parks and Sanctuary declaration which was not passed by the State Parliament recently. Members at the meeting voted unanimously in favour of this support, which had to be lodged by the end of the week.

Members are reminded that our street stall will be held on Thursday, 15th November next, so please start potting up cuttings, etc. if you have not already done so.
