 In 1978 five people from the Warrnambool area joined the Hamilton pistol club.
A steering committee was set up in June 1979 to form a Warrnambool pistol club and find a suitable site to establish an outdoor range.
The inaugural meeting was held in October 1981, and a committee was elected, 13 people were accepted as members by VAPA in March 1982.
Nine of these are still amongst our present membership of 35. Preliminary approval was given by VAPA to set up an outdoor range at Wickham Park in September 1982.
The land to be leased from the Field and Game Association.
The fifty metre range was constructed first and shooting commenced towards the end of 1983.
This range was completed by the pouring of the concrete floor in 1988.
In the same year the twenty five metre range was constructed, the turning targets working for the first time in 1989 the shed being completed in 1990.
1992 saw the completion of both the toilet block and the club room.
Our members compete regularly at competitions held by other clubs throughout Victoria and interstate.
Between 1984 and 1992 two of our club members competed on the Victorian Team at the annual National Competition.
From 1996/1998 another member represented our club on the State Team.
Our club competes annually in a State wide postal competition organised by VAPA,
our ladies air pistol team regularly reaches the finals.
